Almond Treats

1/4 cup crushed almonds
1/4 cup crushed pellets
1/4 cup cornmeal
3 tablespoons vanilla yogurt
3 tablespoons honey
Mix yogurt and honey in a smbowl.
Add almonds and cornmeal, mixing well.
Pack into smfeeding cups and serve as treat.

Bird Candy

birds favourite seed
an egg white per cup of seed
lots of SMchunks of fruits and nuts
finely crushed shell grit or egg shells
Combine ingredients together, adding more honey if desired til a thick seedish mixture is made.
Spoon onto a baking tray and flatten it out.
Leave out in sunshine, covered in plastic wrap, for 2 hours til almost firm.
Put about 3 tablespoons full of bird candy into a bird safe bowl and watch them tuck in!!!

Birdie Biscotti

1 cup ground bird pellets
1/2 cup corn meal
1/2 cup sugar-free corn meal
1 cup ground almonds
1-2 tablespoon powdered wheat grass
2 tablespoon powdered eggshells
4 whole eggs
1 jar of babyfood carrots
enough unsweetened fruit juice to mix into a firm dough
Mix ingredients.
Scoop by spoonful and roll into balls of about 0.5-0.75 ' diameter; place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake in oven at 325 degrees for 20-30 min.
Cool on a rack and keep in refrigerator.
Depending on size, makes about 90-100.
keep a ziplock of these in freezer at times and take out about 15-20 at a time and keep in refrigerator.

Polly Wanna Cracker

2 cups sugar-free corn meal
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup shortening, room temp
1/2 cup very warm water
1 4-oz jar baby food sweet potatoes
2 tablespoon (or more) dried veggies run thru food processor
til pieces are very small, or powdered
Preheat oven to 400
In a measuring cup, mix jar of baby food and dried veggies into very warm water til well blended.
In a bowl, mix sugar-free cornbread mix, baking soda, oil and shortening til well blended.
Add water mixture to dry ingredients and stir til smooth dough forms.
Divide into 3, cover, and let stand for 10 mins.
Roll out one section onto a lightly oiled cookie sheet, VERY, VERY thin and poke over with a fork.
Cut or score into squares and bake for 10 mins, or til crispy (but not too browned)and remove to racks to cool.
Repeat for remaining 2 sections.
Sprinkled with loose millet before cooking and press into dough a bit so they stay.
Store in plastic bags in refrigerator or freeze and defrost as needed.

Birdie Cubes

2 1/2 cups fruit juice
3 cups cockatiel pellets
2 cups seed mix (kind with dried fruits, nuts, etc.)
2 cups parrot pellets
3 1/2 cups canned fruit in juice
2 1/2 cups frozen mixed veggies
1 1/2 cups frozen corn or peas
2 cups oats
2 1/2 cups trail mix (natural, no preservatives)
7 1/2 cups pasta/rice/beans
Depending on type of pasta and grain mix you make/buy you may need to presoak beans for 24 hours before cooking.
Boil pasta, rice and beans til soft.
While that is cooking, soak cockatiel pellets, parrot pellets, and seed mix in fruit juice (I use juice from canned fruitablespoon..
juice NOT syrup).
Puree fruit and veggies (not corn/peas) in blender and add to pellets.
When pellets are soft, mix in frozen whole corn kernels, peas, oats and trail mix.
Drain pasta/bean mix and stir it in.
When thoroughly mixed, use a teaspoon to pack mixture into ice cube trays and freeze til solid.
Remove from ice cube trays and store in freezer bags.

1 tablespoon margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
7 cup air popped popcorn
1 6 ounce Sun Maid Fruit Bits
Avian vitamins
Combine peanut butter, cinnamon, and vitamins.
Drizzle over popcorn, tossing gently

Birdie Treats

Boil some wild rice
Boil some beans
Bake a yam.
Cook some polenta or oatmeal
Steam some broccoli.
Mush it together into meal-size balls and freeze.
It only takes about 45 mins to defrost.

Candy

1 can of garbonzo beans
Drain beans and spread out on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes til outside looks crispy/golden brown in color.
Cool for about 10 minutes.

Cuttlebone treat!

Cuttlebone
Jar of honey (for sub use Peanut butter)
1 cup seeds (any kind bird likes)
Nutty Buddy seeds
On a paper plate pour SOME honey, pour seeds in and mix well.
Next put some of Nutty Buddy mix in.
Spread honey on cuttlebone.
Put seeds on it.
Now Freeze cuttlebone for about half an hour so of seeds are stuck.
Set in room temperature til it isn't freezing.

Edible Car

two large carrots
a couple of raisins
celery stick cut in half
peanut butter (chunky or creamy)
Take one carrot and cut it so it will look like 'wheels'.
Take other carrot and spread peanut butter on it.
Then rest celery stick on peanut butter/carrot.
Spread some more peanut butter on top of celery stick and sprinkle raisins on it.

Fun bird treat!

Take one of pieces and spread peanut butter over it.
Then dip piece into some bird seed so that it is covered with them.

Gold Nuggets

6 Honey Grahams crushed
1 cup (plus) wheat germ
3/4 cup peanut butter
3 tablespoon honey
3/4 cup chopped nuts
2 1/2 cups golden raisins soaked overnight in apple juice
Put ingredients into a large mixing bowl and fold together.
Roll into 3/4 inch balls and coat with wheat germ.
Refrigerate for several hours til firm.

Green Popcorn

Air Popped popcorn or corny cobbers
Spirulina or Super Bluegreen Algae
Put popcorn in a plastic bag and add enough powdered algae to coat popcorn.
Serve as a nutritional snack.

Hanging Seed Surprise

spoonful of peanut butter
spoonful of bird seed (any kind)
a string or wire
Form peanut butter into a shape (heart, square, extablespoon).
Sprinkle seeds onto it.
Put a hole in middle of treat for string or wire.
Thread string or wire through hole and hang in bird's cage.

Hanging Treat

Take some peanut butter.
Spread it on a pine cone.
Roll pine cone in birds food mix.
Hang using a twisty tie..then hang from bird cage.

Hawaiian Boiled Peanuts

raw peanuts

honey
Boil some raw peanuts in a little soy sauce for about an hour, remove from liquid and cool in fridge.
Put them in a plastic bag to keep them wet.
You can also drizzle some honey over shells and then refrigerate for a sweet nutty treat.

Healthy Seed Bells

smterracotta pots
microwave-safe plastic wrap or plastic oven bag
length of firm wire (coat-hanger type is fine)
birdseed of choice (measure it dry in chosen pots to gauge amount needed)
two egg whites per cup of birdseed (or thereabouts)
Prepare pots by lining them with microwave-safe wrap or oven bag.
Bend end of wire that goes into seed bell into a closed loop (so that birds and/or leg rings can't get caught on it when most of bell has been eaten).
Beat egg whites til white and fluffy but still liquid you're not making a meringue.
Mix beaten egg whites and bird seed in a bowl til seed is coated, then spoon mix into prepared pots, patting it down firmly.
Push uncoiled end of wire through centre of mix in pot then out of drainage hole til looped end rests flat on top of mixture, then push loop slightly into mixture.
Place on an oven shelf set high enough to allow wire to hang free.
Cook for approximately 60-90 minutes in a very cool oven or longer if pots are larger

Homemade Bird Treats

2 cups crushed cheerios (or shreddies if you don't have cherrios)
2 cups crushed pellets
2 cups assorted seeds
1 1/4 cup honey
Stir til mixture is wet throughout but not soggy.
Maybe a little more or a little less honey.
Pour onto cookie sheet and spread out.
Bake 225 for 40 to 45 minutes depending on where you live.

Honey Creations

1/2 cup of honey (liquid)
seed or pellets
popsicle stick with yarn tied to it
Bring honey to a boil then get a smmold or cup and fill with seed.
Get a popsicle stick with yarn tied to it and push it down into seed or pellets and hold it there.
Then pour honey into cup or mold and let harden

Honey Pellet Quick Treat

mixed seeds
crushed pellets
some honey
a little parsley or any fruit or veg bird likes
Pre-heat oven to 200F or 130CUP
Mix seeds, crushed pellets, honey (enough to cover ingrediants) and parsley, or whatever you want to use, and when you have finished that, place in mini muffin trays.
Place in oven for about 30 45 minutes, but be careful not to burn them as they can burn easily.
Let them cool and serve.

Honey Seed Treats for Birds

2 cups crushed cheerios
(get a brand with NO zinc)
2 cup crushed pellets
2 cups mixed bird seeds
1-1/4 cups honey
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Add honey, stirring til mixture is wet, but not dripping.
You may adjust quantity of honey to obtain correct consistency.
Spread out onto a cookie sheet.
Bake at 200 degrees about 45 minutes.
Halfway through baking, score with a sharp knife.
When done, cut into pieces.
Store in tight container.

Magic Pellets

2 cups pellets
1/4 cup finely cut broccoli slaw
or other veggie/fruit
2 tablespoons seed of choice
3 tablespoons crush cheddar goldfish (or other cracker)
Mix together ingredients, if desired put dry ingredients in food possessor and chop broccoli slaw really really really fine.
If you plan for keeping this for a while, refrigerate or freeze or make in smaller, daily portions and refrigerate.

Millet-Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut-Butter
1-2 Millet Sprays
Roll Peanut-Butter into a ball.
Sprinkle millet seeds and hang in cage with twisty-tie.

Oatmeal Crumble

1/2 cup oatmeal (uncooked)
medium size jar of baby food (any flavor you want)
Scraped cuttlebone or Crushed egg shells (to powder)
2 boxes of corn muffin mix
1/4 cup sugar-free fruit juice
1/4 cup millet seed (can use pellets or seed mix)
Mix everything together.
Cook as directed on boxes.
May need a few more minutes depending on oven.
Allow to cool then cut into squares.
Freeze and defrost as needed.
Let egg shells dry out before crushing.
If you omit egg shells, use a knife and scrape cuttlebone into mixture instead.

Oatmeal Raisin Ballss

1 large sweet potato
1/2 cup chopped raisins
1 banana
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup diced peaches
1-1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal
In food processor or blender, puree sweet potato, banana, peaches and carrots til smooth.
Add oatmeal and puree til smooth.
Stir in raisins with wooden spoon.
Roll into small balls and store in Ziplocs.
Refrigerate or freeze and defrost as needed.

Parakeet Treat

4 ounce
sunflower seeds (without shells work best)
1 cup cooked brown rice
1/2 a tones container of sesame seeds
2 hard boiled eggs chopped
4 ounce grapes, quartered
Mix indgredients together.
This makes 4 cups worth of food.
I freeze it in batches of 1 cup.

Peanut Butter Bagel Crunch

Spread peanut butter over bagel.
Sprinkle with dried fruit.
Roll in sseds.
Drizzle with honey.
Bake for 5 minutes at 250.
Let cool.

Peanut butter Balls

Start with a bowl of approx.
1/2 cup of 7 grain raw oatmeal (health food store, bulk)
chop up about 1/4 cup raw almonds
add in about a 1/4 cup of several of following….
granola
rice crispy cereal
cheerios
dried cracked corn
leftover crushed pellets
raisins
chopped prunes
dates
apricots
dried cranberries
1 Tablespoon of wheat germ
1 teaspoon of spirulina powder (optional)
2 tablespoon peanut butter
1/2 cup seed mix
Mix ingredients with peanut butter, mashing it a bit to blend peanut butter well.
Add enough seed to hold entire mix together.
You want to be able to shape small balls with mixture.
Make balls about same size as Nutriberries.
Place formed balls on waxed paper in a tupperware container and keep refrigerated.

Peanut Butter Bites

Fruit flavor Zupreem
peanut butter
Grind zupreem in food processor til it's almost dust.
Mix with peanut butter to make a consistancy that you can roll into a ball.
Put into freezer bags and thaw what you need at time.

Peanut butter Cheerios

seed mix
pipe cleaner
String a bunch of Cheerios through a pipecleaner leaving one inch at both ends.
Twist ends together to form a hookends.
Spread some peanut butter onto Cheerios (not too much but JUST ENOUGH for seeds to stay).
Dip ring into a bunch of seeds.
Hang hooked end of ring on top of bird cage or snip hook with scissors so you may put ring through bird's perch.

Pine Cones

Bake or boil the pine cones to kill molds and bugs. Don't use ones that are old or damp or moldy or mossy.
Mix a spread of peanut butter and honey.
Spread on pinecone.
Roll in seed mix.

Pinecone Treats

10 inches of thin cotton twine or natural sisal
Directions for Cleaning Pinecones
Do not take pinecones off of ground.
Lawns are treated with chemicals and pinecones may be decayed.
Choose cones from tree that has never been treated with pesticides or other chemicals and pick cones that are intact with no signs of rotting.
Put pinecones in a baking dish and pour boiling water over them.
Let them steep for about 15 minutes.
This will help to destroy any bacteria or insects that are present.
Cones may open up like flower buds in water but they will close again during drying process.
Drain off water and bake in a 250 oven for 30 minutes.
You can get a pinecone outside but be sure to clean them so bird will not get sick.
Tie twine of thin rope around very tip top of pinecone.
Leave a little bit to tie on top of birds cage or on trees for wild birds.

Mix honey and seeds together in large mixing bowl.
Then, wrap in aluminum foil, leaving top uncovered.
Now, place in oven heated to 225F for about 1 hour.

Sweet and Crunchy

2 cup Quaker Oatmeal-dry
2 cup Special K
8 tablespoon Apple Sauce
1/3 cup Dried Apple Chips
4 tablespoon mashed Sweet Potatoes
1/3 cup pellets
1/3 cup honey
Millet seeds
Mmix ingredients together.
Crunch up apple chips.
Mix well then form balls.
Roll into seeds and set on wax paper.
Wrap balls in plastic wrap and freeze extras.

Sweet Potato Balls

Peanut butter
oatmeal
coconut
any fruit or vegetables
1 large sweet potato, microwaved til soft
1/2 cup raisins
1 mashed banana
1 cup mixed fresh or frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup diced apples
1 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal, corn flakes or granola cereal
Mix together and add enough fruit or vegetable juice to make it form small balls.
Freeze balls individually.
Defrost and serve.

Sweet Potato Surprise

2-3 Large, cooked sweet potatoes
1 broccoli floret, buds sliced off
2-4 baby-mini carrots
1/2 to 1 celery stalk
1/2 to 1 apple, peeled and cored.
Microwave sweet potatoes til soft.
Cool and remove skins.
While they are cooking, peel, rinse, drain and dry with paper towels other veggies and apple.
Put sweet potatoes, carrots, apple and celery in food processor and puree.
With wooden spoon, mix broccoli buds that you have sliced off.
(look like green seeds) If mixture is too watery, add some pellets or microwave another sweet potato.
Roll mixture into small balls and wrap individually in plastic wrap.
Freeze and defrost as needed.
You can hide any veggie or pellets in sweet potatoes.
If bird doesn't like sweet potatoes, then use white ones.

Sweet Treats

2 cups of seed
1 egg white
2 teaspoon honey
Mix ingredients in to a bowl.
Spray muffin tray with cooking spray, Bake in oven for 1 hour at 120 cup Let them cool before serving.

Treat Sticks

Untreated fruit tree twigs (or lollipop sticks)
2 cups combined seeds
chopped roasted salt free nuts
pellets, raisins
other dried fruit
egg
honey
Disinfect tree twigs by placing in a 150 cup or 300 degrees oven for 30 minutes.
Mix dry ingredients together then mix in egg.
Press mixture onto twigs/sticks.
Bake in oven at 200 degrees cup or 400 F for 20-30 minutes til toasted.
Brush honey over treat sticks and return to oven for a further 5 minutes.
Allow to cool.

Walnut Raisin Balls

1 1/3 Cup Wheat Germ
2 Cups raisins
3/4 Cup chopped walnuts
8 graham crackers crushed fine
1 1/2 Cup peanut butter
4 tablespoon honey
extra chopped nuts
Put ingredients into a mixing bowl.
Mix til everything is blended and holds together.
Roll into small balls with hands and roll in extra chopped nuts.
Refrigerate leftovers.
